Staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast is buffet style cereal or jam and toast. Dinner was nice, basic pub food. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Considering the location and what it is, I personally think the rooms are very over priced, saying that with how quiet the pub is on an evening, its probably the only way they can survive. The only fault really is there doesn't seem to be any sound proofing between the bedroom floor and pub ceiling. I could hear loud music and talking. The music in the bar actually wasn't that loud when in there, just seemed to amplify through the floor. Fortunately I had earplugs so didn't disturb my sleep.
We recently were driving by this pub when we noticed smoke coming out the back of our vehicle. We pulled into the car park to assess the situation and call a garage close by, whilst there we were extremely concerned about the smoke and smell from the vehicle. We tried to see if there was anyone in the pub to help us. We spent a total of 11 minutes in this car park, hoping a fire wasn’t about to start whilst making frantic calls. A few days a later we receive a parking fine, which we appealed. The appeal was denied. We appealed again, but this has also been denied. I would avoid the pub at any cost, given management are happy to employ a company with such little compassion and understanding. A broken down vehicle stationed there for 11 minutes with smoke bellowing out just feels really unreasonable.
I'll be honest, the room was rancid and I got flee bites all up my arms. The carpet smelt, mould in the corners and the bathroom was grim. The barman was kind and helpful but they don't serve food anymore so just pointed me in the direction of the local takeaway which was safer than eating at the "sister pub" which looked just as bad. Compared to the other reviews of this hotel, im not sure what hotel they're staying at, but it's not my experience. Also the toilet roll holder fell off the wall and the tap didn't work..... I think it's had its day and I'd avoid it if I were you.
