We wanted to take our community volunteers and supporters someone very special to say thank you and the West Arms was certainly that! After walking 8 miles over the mountains from the Glyn Valley with 32 hungry hikers and 3 lively hounds, we were greeted with a lovely warm welcome by Mark & Nicky. The dining room is beautiful, with a warm cosy fire, spectacular views and very dog friendly! Every course of our meal was beautiful and everyone was delighted - great beers/wines etc too. The service was excellent, even though we were such a large party. The team at the West Arms are fabulous hosts and we can't wait to return!
We had a lovely two nights stay at this beautiful hotel during the end of August. Upon arrival Nicky, Mark and team were so warm and welcoming. They really couldn't do more for us. The views in and around the valley are just gorgeous. There are plenty of lovely walks and a fab gallery across the road with some absolute gems! It's a cyclists heaven with spectacular views all round. The food was outstanding !!! A perfect place to unwind in the stunning garden or sit in front of the fire with a glass of wine! We will definitely be re booking for winter 21. Thanks Nicky, Mark and Team for a special break :) Rebecca & Euros xxx
Well in advance, we had booked a one night stay at The West Arms on 21/6/23 as we were attending a wedding close by the following day. Another reason for our choice was because we spent our honeymoon there 43 years ago so it was intended to be a trip down memory lane. From the outset the response from the owners was extremely poor. Impossible to get through by phone and took days to respond to queries about the possibility of a late check out. Then a few days before our visit we received a message to say the restaurant would not be open so our dinner reservation was cancelled. We were advised we could eat at The Hand Inn across the road, so booked a table there. Then a couple of days later we got another text ( not even the courtesy of a phone call ) to say the inn was closing for the week. No apology or explanation when my husband rang, owner very offhand , told we could probably book somewhere else local. So we booked in at The Hand. As it turned out The West Arms did us a favour. The Hand was superb, beautiful room with excellent food. And the staff attitude was welcoming and courteous. A tip for the owner of The West Arms - being pretentious and over familiar by immediately calling potential guests by their first names and being pally doesn’t make up for extremely poor treatment of guests.
