I stayed at the West Hollywood EDITION for five nights and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. I stayed in a Deluxe Suite overlooking Sunset Boulevard, with breathtaking views of the hills. The room was beautifully appointed, modern, and comfortable, with spectacular views at both sunrise and sunset. The service was outstanding - friendly, attentive, and nothing was ever too much effort for the team. Ardor is rightly acclaimed; dining there was a highlight. The rooftop terrace offers incredible views over the city, and the pool was the perfect place to unwind. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and highly recommend it.

Your experience may vary. I stayed here for at least 10 weeks over the last years and have made all kinds of experiences - from great to not so great. Starting with the positives: 1. The in-room dining is fantastic and the best I ever had at any hotel. By now I probably ordered every item from the menu at least once and everything has been really, really good. On top of that the team members who serve the food are all extremely nice and professional. 2. Everyone at the valet is extremely nice and courteous. I’ll not complain about the valet pricing and lack of self parking since that’s just normal in LA these days. 3. I really like the design of the rooms (pretty much same as all other Edition hotels) and the smell in the hotel is great too. Now to the negatives: 1. Even the hotel seems to be relatively new, you can see a lot of wear and tear - definitely in the rooms, but also in the hallways and other public areas. Maintenance is clearly an issue. Over 4 times I had to call a technician because ceiling lights in the room were flickering. Doesn’t match the price point and intended standard. Also, a lot of the rooms have terraces/patios and I don’t understand why, they tend to be in very bad shape and the view is horrible. 2. Depending on what room you’ll get, it’s extremely loud and impossible to sleep without earplugs. The problem is that the noise comes from multiple sources: if you have a room facing Sunset Blvd, you’re definitely doomed. If you have a room on the higher floor you might also have troubles since the rooftop bar can be extremely loud. 3. Less of an issue, but worth mentioning: Even though I’m staying here so often and have Marriott Ambassador status I rarely get an upgrade even when the hotel occupancy is low. I’m still staying here a few times a year, but I really wish that the hotel would at least tackle the maintenance issues because the current state doesn’t match neither the star rating nor the price. If price and star rating were lower I would give it 4 stars instead of 3.

I had high expectations for the West Hollywood EDITION, but our stay is extremely underwhelming. Check-in was a mess — we waited until nearly 6 PM to receive our room, with minimal communication or concern from the staff. They literally do not care. For a hotel in this price range, that level of disorganization and lack of care is unacceptable. When we finally got to the room, the “upgrade” we received was barely an improvement and certainly not worth the delay. The view is of the back of the building and its a terrace room. The staff throughout the hotel seemed indifferent and disengaged, offering little in terms of service or hospitality. On top of that, the lack of food options was surprising — for a property that markets itself as luxury, you’d expect more than a limited and underwhelming selection. Ardor was great, but that’s really about it. Room service is another thing, whether you call or order online. It’s a hit or miss. Mostly okay. However, we called once and the guy over the phone legit told me they don’t offer something that’s clearly on their menu and listed as “available now.” Overall, this experience has fallen far short of expectations. We usually stay at the 1 Hotel and jokes on us for switching it up this time. Never again. For the price point and the brand name, there are far better options in LA that actually deliver on service, comfort, and experience.
