The Western Hotel

What an amazing Hotel. We booked a room on their website and picked the dinner package. WOW the food was amazing. We even got a bottle of wine included. Breakfast was delicious. We were just a minutes walk to all the hot spots and downtown. I highly recommend this hotel. Everything was perfect.

To be honest, The images that pop up when you search this hotel on Google maps are not at all what the rooms/hotel look like. I’m not sure if they are very old pictures or what not but reference the website. The bar/restaurant is newly renovated and BEAUTIFUL the food was excellent for lunch and dinner. The staff are very friendly, approachable and helpful. The rooms although are very dated. Our room had large brown stains on the carpet in various areas, it had a strange smell. The bathroom was a nice size but no hook or surface to put makeup/toiletries. They could have at least threw a tall table in the bathroom, there is plenty of room. This hotel has no air conditioning, which feels fine if you are downstairs on the main level, but the rooms are upstairs, we had two small windows that barely opened. For all the work they are doing to renovate this hotel they could at least put wall air conditioning units in that plug in. It’s one thing if the rooms had nice windows with a good breeze but they did not. It is hot. One of our beds was quite crooked and slanted. they did offer us another room and let us look at the other room, which was very kind, but it was much smaller and we had 4 people in our party. The staff at this hotel were very nice and courteous, even offered us fans for how hot it is.

Charming Stay at The Western Hotel – Amazing Staff and Atmosphere We had a fantastic stay at The Western Hotel. From the moment we arrived, the receptionists made us feel welcome and were incredibly knowledgeable about the area. They gave great recommendations and genuinely cared about making our stay comfortable. The bar was another highlight. The bartender was super personable, keeping us entertained as we enjoyed our pints of Guinness. The atmosphere throughout the hotel had this warm, vintage charm with a historical feel that made the experience even more memorable. The location is perfect, close to everything you’d want to explore in Galway, with easy access to transportation right nearby. The only reason I’m not giving a full five stars is that the rooms don’t have air conditioning, which was noticeable during the warmer part of our stay. That said, the staff once again went above and beyond. The receptionist provided me with a fan and even offered an extra sheet in place of the heavier comforter, which made all the difference. That level of service really stood out. All in all, The Western Hotel was a great place to stay, and next time we are back in Galway I’d definitely come back, especially knowing the staff is so attentive and helpful.
