I parked here for the airport and the staff was AMAZING. Both women I interacted with were very classy, manicured, and extremely accommodating and friendly. Something that’s very rare these days. I wish I remembered their names but they were working at the front desk when I got there Friday evening and Monday afternoon. The parking was a breeze too and the shuttle service was also great.
I had a one-night stay at this hotel this week when I was unable to depart from DCA due to storms. After waiting at the airport for hours, I was able to quickly take the hotel shuttle and be in a relaxing atmosphere. Dinner at the hotel was tasty and much better than any meal I would have gotten at the airport. I did have an issue with the air conditioning not cooling my room, but management made it right for me. These things happen sometimes. What’s important is they took care of me in the end. I highly recommend this hotel. P.S. They have a nice fitness room.
The good: housekeeping was good, the staff in general were brilliant, and the location was convenient. The bed was comfortable, and the fitness equipment was well equipped. The bad: significant maintenance issues. The chair in my room was completely cracked and needed new upholstery, the bathroom had numerous problems. This included the toilet flush snapping completely off during use, a loose toilet seat, a sink which did not drain properly. The bathroom is the smallest I’ve ever seen in a 4 star hotel. I also have never come across a shower where I cannot control the water pressure. It was clear there were insufficient staff. Laundry service needed me to go to the lobby to deliver and collect, for example. Also, 1 bottle of water per day was awfully stingy. The telephone label still says that it is a Sheraton hotel, and the “service” button on the phone does not connect to anything. Most shockingly, the elevator does not require a security card to access and anyone can push a button to reach any floor. This is poor security practice. The rooms are not well insulated and you can hear the lift chiming at all hours, and when other room doors slam shut. The room is outdated, and clearly needs major refurbishment. Despite being a Westin, in reality it is on par with a 2-3 star hotel at most.
