The Westin DC Downtown

AC was a bit hard to get going and the fan is really loud. Tried to order room service but they made it quite difficult to find. I ended up going to the restaurant downstairs and asked to deliver to my room. Service was good and fast but I was surprised to see plastic cutlery. People at the hotel were really nice.

I stayed at The Westin DC Downtown and overall it’s a really nice hotel. Super clean, modern, and comfortable. I also liked that they offered free bottled water in the room, which was a thoughtful touch especially with the summer heat. The part that threw me off was all the extra fees. There’s a destination charge of about $35 plus tax, and then parking was $48 for one night. It adds up fast and makes the total cost of the stay a lot higher than what you first expect when booking. Honestly, I don’t even know what the destination fee is for. I really think hotels should just be upfront with pricing. If it costs more to stay there, just show the real price per night. Include the parking too or at least make it very clear what isn’t included. It’s a great hotel, but I’d really like to see more transparency in the way the final price is shown. That would make the whole experience feel a lot more fair.

Worst experience. 1. When I arrived reservation was cancelled without any notice and also charged the credit card. 2. Friend saw a rat in his room 3. I was given small queen room when I had booked a king. Room was horrible closet cabinet cannot be accessed as the door blocks them. So small when you walk you hit tv in the room. 4. Doors have 2 inch gap at the bottom which leaks and lights your room from hallway lights, this is true for all rooms the floor I stayed on. Don't recommend this place.
