The Westin Miyako Kyoto

Beautiful hotel with next-level hospitality. The rooms were modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. The property and surrounding gardens are absolutely gorgeous—such a peaceful and scenic place to stay. Location-wise, it’s super convenient. It took us just about 3 minutes to walk to the train station, and they also offer a shuttle that stops in town before heading to Kyoto station, which made getting around even easier. There’s a 24-hour Family Mart attached to the hotel for anything you might need, which came in very handy. You can also walk to several beautiful shrines within 15–20 minutes. The only downside to our stay was a housekeeping issue—one day, the room attendant went through our belongings and spread some of my wife’s dirty undergarments on the floor. It made us extremely uncomfortable, and we really didn’t want further room service after that. Also, it would’ve been nice if the TV had the same Netflix and streaming app options that other Marriott properties typically offer. Aside from that, we truly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the warm service and beautiful environment.

We spent 5 great days at the Westin Miyako in Kyoto. During that time we fell in love with this hotel and their excellent staff! We would love to come back to Japan and stay here again in the future. We splurged for a club level room and I would definitely recommend that if possible, as the club lounge is a great place to spend time for a heavy snack or evening drink and the staff there were excellent too. Everything was spotlessly clean, the housekeeping was superb and this hotel has so many surprises like the Japanese gardens/trails, the excellent spa, the Family Mart on site, and the fantastic rooftop garden where the sunsets will leave you speechless! I could go on and on about this hotel, the location is great, the onsen is amazing and the staff were so friendly and helpful at all times. Highly recommend for a great stay in lovely Kyoto.

One of the best spas I’ve been to in Japan with a big sauna and ice bath. Delicious breakfasts (western and Japanese options). Got a free upgrade which is always a nice bonus. Good access to the Gion area with a wide range of dining options if you want to eat out. Check in wasn’t the most welcoming I’ve ever had but maybe she had had a bad day? Some excellent service, some average. Awesome gym and pool facilities too. If I’m back in Kyoto would stay again for sure.
