recently stayed at The Westin in Mammoth and the experience was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. The service is a 10/10 — every single staff member I interacted with was outstanding, warm, and eager to help. The accommodations themselves were incredible: comfortable, clean, and perfectly suited for a relaxing getaway. A special shout-out to Ryan Ernst, the general manager. He truly goes above and beyond for both guests and his team. It’s clear everyone loves working with him, and that positive energy translates directly into the guest experience. The restaurant is fantastic, offering great food in a welcoming atmosphere. The location can’t be beat — close to everything you’d want in Mammoth. And the rooms are perfect, providing the ideal mix of comfort and luxury. I highly recommend staying here if you’re in Mammoth. It’s one of those rare places where everything just clicks — service, location, dining, and accommodations all at the highest level.
We just returned from our third stay at The Westin Monache Resort, Mammoth (July 7–9), and I want to highlight the exceptional service at the front desk. When we checked in, the room assigned had a loud AC unit nearby. The front desk associate went above and beyond—with a smile—to find us a quieter room. He even personally showed me the options. That kind of care really stood out. Overall, the staff was friendly, responsible, and professional—truly a strong point of the hotel. That said, the rooms could use deeper cleaning. The bathroom had hair from the previous guest, and the floor felt like it hadn’t been scrubbed properly in a while. Also, some towels were very worn and really need replacing. For a premium Marriott brand like Westin, especially at this price point, better cleanliness and upkeep are expected. We love this hotel and will definitely be back. Maybe that’s the problem—they know we’ll return no matter what, because there’s no better place to stay in Mammoth!
We recently stayed at The Westin Monache and had mixed feelings. The location is unbeatable and the staff was extremely helpful and responsive, which we really appreciated. That said, the rooms felt neglected—not dirty, but definitely in need of attention. For example, we found broken glass on our patio, and while staff quickly came to sweep it up, we had to ask them to come back with a vacuum because small shards were still scattered around. The shower handle came off every time we used it, which is something you’d expect to be fixed right away at a resort of this level. The property overall feels dated, more like a typical aging Westin than the upscale experience we remember from the brand in years past. Also worth noting: there’s no sauna, and the pool attendant doubles as the food and drink server, which feels understaffed for what’s marketed as a full-service resort in a popular tourist destination. Overall, it’s fine, but don’t expect a luxury resort experience. Hopefully with a little investment and attention to detail, it could return to the standards Westin used to be known for.
