Expected a little better. Smallest window, no fridge in the room, drawers that were full of wood splinters because the drawers wouldn't open, outlets in the bathroom didn't work and we supposedly got an upgraded room??!! And no coffee in the hotel lobby. The restaurant at the hotel wanted to charge $6 a cup and no refills. It's pretty crazy how one little lack of service makes a bad impression but that was it. However, room service did a good job. Cleaning was thorough and it was nice to get back to a clean room after miles of walking in the dirty streets of NY.
This is definitely not a 5-star hotel, so I have no idea why it's labeled as such on Google. 3-star at best. If you are anal about cleanliness, then this hotel is NOT for you! Here's what happened - Upon checking in, the lady at the front desk told us that there would be a $40 destination fee that would be charged per night. That was annoying. I wish these sites would just include ALL fees upfront instead of surprising you when you get there. So, we checked in and went to our room and I was immediately grossed out. Not only was the table dusty but there was hair on the phone, hair in the bathroom sink, and crumbs on the window seal. I am absolutely grossed out by seeing other people's hair! So, we went back downstairs and told the lady at the front desk. She apologized and switched our rooms. Went to the new room and once again there was hair on the phone, hair in the tub this time, lots of dust in the corners, and I'm not sure if it was dirt or mold but it was inside of the handheld shower hose. I was so grossed out!! We went back downstairs and told the lady again and manager. They said that they would have Maintenace come and clean the room again. They came about 2 hours later and still didn't do a good job. Unbelievable. At this point I was just ready to leave. Oh! and the room doesn't come with a fridge. You have to ask for it and they charge you $20 for it. We didn't have to pay because of the issues with our rooms. The only good things about this hotel were that the rooms were surprisingly a nice size for a NY hotel room. NY hotels are always extremely small. I always feel like I'm in a box or a closet. The staff was friendly (although the guy who brought our luggage up started rubbing his hands and asked for a tip right after he unloaded our luggage. Nice guy but that was a turn off) and it was walking distance to everywhere we needed to go. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!
Had very high expectations, front desk staff were extremely rude and dismissive. It put a damper on my trip. The staff in the limited restaurant were nice and friendly. Good location, but overall very disappointing and would not stay again. There are far better options with optimal areas… as well as being at the same price range. I stay at Westin’s a lot, but would not recommend this one. The room also had very limited amenities.
