The Westin Portland Harborview

Great hotel in a great location to easily get around the city and experience all it has to offer. The rooms are very well appointed and spacious. The bathrooms updated with net fixtures and great water pressure. The cocktail bar Top of the East is amazing with fantastic cocktails but classic and new. The views are incredible. The staff friendly and helpful with great cocktail recommendations. And the atmosphere is cozy yet sophisticated, a perfect place for a drink or two with friends!

When I stayed at the Westin a few months ago I have to say it was an amazing experience. everyone that I dealt with that worked for the hotel was so accommodating. The room I was in was so nice and clean and I stayed a few days and there was never any hesitancy from the cleaning staff to help me to make sure that I had clean towels and anything that I needed. The spa absolutely perfect! Also, the food is so good. It really is a beautiful place and a great place to stay.

Wife and I stayed at the Westin Portland location during a 2500 mile road trip. This was our experience. #1 Parking was a nightmare I did bring an oversized vehicle (pickup truck with a rooftop tent) and I was aware that it would not fit at the time of booking after speaking with the sales agent but I was led to believe I could just park right out front or a few spots away so we proceeded with the booking. Upon arrival, the valet did confirm that I wouldn't fit in the garage but was told that the closest unrestricted parking would be a 20-25 min walk from the hotel. They did offer to come pick me up if I was able to find parking "within the next 10 minutes" as the valet attendant was about to get off for the day. #2 Front Desk seemed to lie to about our room I purchased the Premium Harbor View king bed room on a "high floor". Upon checking in, the front desk worked pleasantly informed me that they upgraded me! My wife and I were excited to see the suite we had been upgraded to since there was only one room tier above the one we purchased. Upon walking into the room, it was the exact room type I had purchased. There was no upgrade. #3 Room Issues There were several issues with the room in general. The wallpaper was peeling along most of the room. The largest issue was the AC. We set it at 65 degrees (we like it cold when we sleep). The room indicated that it was 66 and that temperature never budged up or down. We called down to the front desk and they did send someone up who told us that our room was in fact cold and the temperature was correct. Our room was warm. The AC system was blowing room temperature air at best. We dealt with the issue for the evening and while waiting for coffee in the shop in the lobby the next morning, we over heard another couple also complaining that their room was hot the entire evening. We struck up a conversation with them and it seemed they had an almost identical experience with the AC. #4 Room Value We felt like "Harbor View" was a bit misleading. We should have checked there exactly the hotel was located within the city blocks, but the online pictures suggested that the harbor was almost directly outside the hotel. We were sad to find out that we had to stand in the window to be able to glimpse the harbor at all. We didn't feel like the room and view warranted the price we paid. Overall, we were disappointed with our stay and likely would not stay again given the choice.
