The Westin San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

From the moment you walk through their doors you feel comfortable. Pleasant staff..easy check-in..even got two free drinks tickets for the bar.. AND it was a cool place to hangout. Rooms were cool.. everything was clean and spacious..no complaints there. Location is ideal..at the northeast end of the Quarter. Quiet enough to be away from all the hype and close enough to walk all around downtown. Yes, I would stay there again!

What a lovely hotel in a convenient area. It looked like most folks staying there were business travelers. They have a lot of space for meetings. Lots of airline crews staying here too. You don’t need a car when you have so much stuff to see and do within walking distance. We walked to PetCo park and the train station and it was quite safe. They are very close to a very lovely part of the city with dozens of bars and clubs. Also, the business district was right there. There is a full bar and restaurant when you first walk in. The service at the restaurant was hit or miss. Some folks were attentive, friendly, and helpful. Others who seemed like managers were not so nice or helpful. The housekeeping staff were an absolute delight and extremely friendly. They do great work and it was nice to actually run into a few of them and talk to them about the area as we were tourists. If anything is to be said negative, it would be it’s not a cheap stay, but you know what? You get what you pay for these days and sometimes cheaper means something got neglected. Here, nothing is neglected.

Titanium member here. Room had left over socks from previous guests. Called right when I walked in the room. No one came. Called another two times before someone came to remove them. Took about an hour. Went to go shower and saw bathroom was missing body wash, instead had two shampoos. Similarly, had to call more than once to get someone to come change. Waited over an hour. Breakfast was amazing first day, but complete 180 with terrible service the following day. Was never served coffee and had to ask 3 different staff each time we needed something. Guacamole was probably the least flavorful I've ever had. Hotel has high potential, with some otherwise really great service, but also some really poor misses. Probably won't stay anytime soon, as some of the other reviews were right.
