The Westin Tampa Bay

What a delightful stay I had at the Westin Tampa Bay! I love all the heavenly amenities provided, and this stay was no exception! Upon arrival, I was surprised to receive an upgraded room, which was delightful after a long, delayed trip across the country. Looking out of the floor to ceiling windows, I only saw a black void because it was so late at night. So, I closed the window shades (automatically, which was such a cool touch), and when I awoke and opened the shades, I was blown away at how beautiful the view of the bay was! Everything was well appointed, and kept up to date. The next time I'm in Tampa, I'll definitely look for a room at The Westin Tampa Bay!

Hotel is very nice in a beautiful location with updated rooms with great water views. The low rating is all related to staff service. Staff (with a few positive exceptions) seemed uninterested at best and apathetic at worst. Elevators were often running at just one out of 3 in service during the stay and there was no communication to guests about this. This happens I understand but other hotels have had signs in the lobby and have left notices under hotel room doors advising guests of elevator issues. Also, the restaurant AQUA is undergoing a multi month renovation which means hotel dining is in the small lobby. I chose not to dine at the hotel as a result. So the staff just felt unorganized and the person checking me in was unaware the hotel upgraded from 2 doubles to 2 queens in the rooms with two beds. It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to the full Westin experience. Hotel has so much potential.

LOOK AT AND BELIEVE ALL OF THE HORRIBLE REVIEWS!!! Absolutely awful experience. If you can avoid this place, please do. From the moment I arrived, the staff was unfriendly and unwelcoming. The rooms are nowhere near soundproof; I could hear every single word of my neighbor’s conversations. It felt like a complete invasion of privacy. I was so uncomfortable that I eventually told the neighbor I could hear everything they were saying. When I brought this to the front desk, the employee took my room number, apologized, and then did absolutely nothing to address it. Her explanation? “It’s a connecting room, that’s just how it is sometimes.” If that’s the case, what was the point of asking for my room number? This was a horrible stay from start to finish, with equally horrible service from the staff. The water also took FOREVER to get hot in the shower! So disappointed as I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member but I’ve never had an experience at a Marriott like this before. Stay AWAY. Go find better, take this as a warning.
