I loved my stay at The Woolly! The staff were so friendly, courteous and did everything to ensure I had a great stay. Room was spacious, extremely clean and very quirky! Be warned it is a building over 500 years old,as the sloping floors give testament to. The food was lovely - fantastic freshly cooked to order breakfast. Will return.
Lovely little quirky pub with rooms upstairs. Room was immaculately clean, tastefully decorated with traditional beams/features kept which I like. Bed was super comfy! Would love to know where the mattress was from so I can get myself one! Good supply of tea/coffee/hot chocolate. Staff were helpful check in and out was quick and easy. Bathroom was a bit quirky with an uneven/sloping floor which was fine for a night or two but if you had mobility issues do let the staff know so you get a different room. Came for a weekend away to visit local vineyards and had a lovely time. Really lovely location to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Lots of cute shops you can wander around, lovely bakeries and restaurants too. Enjoyed our stay.
Positives: Clean, hygienic and well turned out room. Characterful, quirky old building. Pleasant, efficient staff. Central location. Negatives: 1) The steeply sloping bathroom floor was positively dangerous, especially when wet and in the dark. Absolutely not recommended for many older people and others unsteady on their feet. No forewarning of this on the website or when booking. 2) Major building works to the town hall just outside our bedroom window (not the hotel’s fault, of course), but again no forewarning when booking and, when asked, we were assured that the construction work started at around 09:30 each day. This was a blatant lie, of course and the bulldozer and dumper truck started up at 07:45, as we had guessed they might. Rooms overlooking these works should be offered at a significantly reduced rate until their completion and guests should be forewarned before booking. 3) Poor value for money, relative to other places we have stayed in the W Kent/E Sussex area.
