Plenty of public areas with comfortable seating. A public bar on site A restaurant/ breakfast area, all area's very clean and well decorated , even a open log fire in the foyer/ reception area. Public toilets well kept and clean with good lighting. Well kept outside grounds and gardens with plenty of seating to enjoy fine weather with great views. A decent sized car park , bays well marked. Staff friendly and polite and well groomed . Food well presented and tasty with excellent choices. Will definitely choose this hotel again. I recommend the Wordsworth Hotel.
What a gorgeous old hotel. Smack in the centre of Grasmere with a large customer car park. The staff were great on reception and in the restaurant too. Our room was on the ground floor, dog friendly, a good size, and the bed was super comfy. The room was about a gazillion degrees however, far too hot, and as the window didn't open we had a sleepless night. In the room is a kettle and also a coffee machine. Hairdryer, good sized wardrobe. The bathroom had a full sized bath, shower. Shampoo and shower gel provided, and snuggly towels. Breakfast was both a buffet and menu to order from, so plenty to eat. The prices in the bar aren't cheap- £8.50 for a glass of wine, but it's a tourist town, so I guess it's to be expected. There's lots of seating in the residents lounge and gorgeous gardens with outdoor seating too. I'd happily go back again.
We stayed at the Wordsworth Hotel a couple of years back and at the time I said it was the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in. Welcome card and wine on arrival, amazing breakfast, the pool and sauna facilities all nice touches. Sadly that’s mostly gone now. We booked for my birthday a couple of months ago based on that experience. So when we didn’t experience the same this time around we were a bit disappointed. I went to find out how to access the pool only to find out it’s no longer in use. It was a feature I was looking forward to after a big day out on the fells. Had I known this had changed I wouldn’t have booked the Wordsworth, there’s equal facilities for less or an air b&b. Real shame that the Inn Group have taken over. Other things such as Costa coffee signs stuck on windows and the sign lose some of the mystique of the venue. Feels more like a travel lodge but pricier. I wouldn’t stay again sadly. The redeeming side of things was the staff, particularly in the bar and restaurant who were so friendly and accommodating to us throughout our stay.
