What a treat! The hotel and grounds are beautiful with gorgeous views from the terrace, and we were delighted with our room! Every nook and cranny is tasteful while in keeping with the style of a manor house and spotlessly clean throughout. The food was delicious and plentiful with a good selection on the menu for both dinner and breakfast, and everything was beautifully presented and very tasty. On top of all that, it was the staff who actually made the visit; all were exceptionally welcoming, helpful, and friendly from the minute we arrived, and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was full but still felt very tranquil. There was ample parking, and everything seemed to run perfectly. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, and we will definitely be back. The bar bill was very reasonable too!

As a local we had been recommended to visit the hotel for it's cream teas and luxurious surroundings gardens, and that in particular my children would like to see the sheep at the bottom field. We were unable to get through to reception before our arrival, this would have saved us the disappointment which followed. Rude greeting by staff, we were told that there was no food available and that our children (both under 2) were not welcome. Upon later reviewing, it done specify online that the hotel residents are to be 12+ but I was shocked to be turned away. We simply wished to enjoy tea and cake in the sunshine as our friends had done with their children previously. We will not be returning and I will advise my friends and family, especially those with little ones not to waste their time.

We have just left this hotel after a very poor stay. On one morning no housekeeping was done and when we asked it was just a “oh sorry they went home at 2PM”. When the receptionist kindly brought some toiletries to compensate for this these were taken the next day by housekeeping. There was no management on site so it was left to junior members of staff to resolve issues they shouldn’t be made to be in a position to resolve. The lovely receptionist was nearly crying on check out as she was clearly fearing she was going to get in trouble for us leaving without having paid part of the bill to compensate for the issues without manager approval (as there wasn’t one accessible). This is clearly how poorly they run and how they make staff feel!! Breakfast was average - things on the menu they just didn’t have and again nothing was really done to make up or substitute. Evening meal and rooms were nice. There are some very serious issues with the hotel - how a hotel can operate without a manager/assistant manager on site each day is shocking. We wouldn’t stay again.
