The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux

This is a lovely hotel inside the Medina City Gates. What makes it really stand out is the exceptional service. All the staff went above and beyond and made us feel welcome. They were very kind to our children and helped in whatever way they could. The rooms are very comfortable and we had no complaints. If you have a chance to stay here I highly recommend it. This hotel and more importantly the staff, is a gem.

Just stayed here a few weeks back and let me just say, the place incredible. As a big, Game of Thrones fan I was excited to come here. I was in Mdina many years ago and thought, "How cool would it be to spend a night in a fortified city?" Well, now that dream was a reality. My family and I felt likes royals staying here. Like being in medieval times but in a luxury hotel. Needless to say, you need to dial in expectations a bit as the place was built in the 1700's so accommodations to a degree are reflective of this. The staff was beyond accommodating and even showed us a upgraded room choice which was available and I of course, had to accept as it was magnificent. For the price and the location, it's a win.

This is a wonderful and unique hotel. The staff are friendly, helpful and charming. We loved our relaxed breakfasts on the sunny roof terrace with its amazing views across the island. Lots do so and see in Mdina and nearby Rabat, and only a short ride to anywhere else on the island.
