The Zarafa

My girlfriend and I spent the long weekend in Zarafa. The lodge is absolutely stunning. We stayed in one of the two sleeper villas. We had our own pool, which we used every day. The views of the mountain opposite us were stunning, especially at sunset. The animal and bird life surrounding you is the onky thing you hear. We saw Impala and wildebeast from our garden. The food was also out of this world. Dinners were five course meals served in the restaurant. The restaurant is a masterpiece of art decorated with an Asian theme. We thoroughly enjoyed the springboks shank, which really stood out for us. Breakfasts were a delightful spread of whatever you desired, including cereals, porages, full English, fruit and yogurt, and pastries. We chose to have breakfast served to us in our villa on the deck. The service was the best I've ever experienced.

Later, you might spot a giraffe from your private balcony. The whole place feels incredibly secure and secluded from the world. It's the kind of escape where you can truly relax and recharge. This hidden gem offers an unforgettable experience, blending luxury with the thrill of the wild(the food?? 5 star restaurant experience with the friendliest of staff). It's more than a vacation; it's a journey. The Bali in Africa? I say Yes!!

We stayed at Zarafa for three nights in early Feb. It is a small establishment with only five beautiful villas spread over a little hill. It was an absolute delight to stay there. Each villa has its own private swimming pool, which we made frequent use of, and a private outdoor dining gazebo. The villas themselves consist a large modern bathroom and a large living area with king size bed and ample space for luggage. The food there was always a gourmet delight and could be served at our villa or up at the dining room or patio. The owner is a charming and humorous Brit who will always find a way to get you to have a digestif after your fabulous four course meal. Highly recommended for those seeking a little tranquil luxury while exploring Kruger NP or the Blyde River Canyon.
