The Thomas Rose Inn was a lovely stay in the heart of a charming small town, with personal touches like chilled champagne/wine in the fridge and coffee/tea in the common area. It was extremely convenient and walkable to the shops and restaurants of Lewisburg. It is worth returning for annual events like the chocolate festival or just a cozy getaway.

Great location! You are within walking distance to everything. The doorknobs and locks were a little tricky, but we figured them out. Suite 3 has everything you need, including a small kitchen area. However, I couldn’t find silverware. Bathroom is new and very nice. Floors throughout are original (very neat), just be careful as I tripped in a few spots. The bed was super uncomfortable, I tossed all night. A new mattress or a good mattress topper is very much needed! I still gave 5 stars because the bed was the only negative.

I booked this hotel through a 3rd party app. I had no control or knowledge of how my reservation was sent to the hotel. When I arrived there, at the 3pm check-in time, there was a small sign on the door to call a number for assistance. I happily called. When I said my name and that I was calling to check in there was not any type of greeting but a very exasperated tone and telling me "I have been waiting all day for you to get here, I'll text you the information." I was taken aback, just let her know I was trying to check in, and got off the phone as quickly as possible. I have stayed at the General Lewis and Greenbrier many times and this tone was just simply uncalled for in this circumstance. The information was texted including a statement that she was not rude. I never told her she was rude on the phone, just surprised how off put she was by a guest calling at the designated check in time to gain access to the building. I guess she was having a bad day, but no need to take it out on someone else like that especially since I had no control how my credit card (I booked with points) sent the reservation and it did not include a phone number. There were a lot of different ways that could have been handled by the woman on the phone. The room is very nice, the drinks in the lobby are also a welcome touch. However, due to this interaction I doubt I would stay here again when right around the corner is a very nice boutique hotel that always has a warm welcome and smile waiting for you.
