Thulhagiri Island Resort

This little island in the Maldives is an amazing place to forget about everything and relax! The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, and the food is delicious. It is very peaceful. We did not want to leave! We will never forget our stay at Thulhagiri, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone. Definitely deserves a 5 star rating!

Honestly, I don´t really know how you can give Thulhagiri 5 stars - probably haven´t seen other islands on the Maldives yet. Literally nothing on this island is Maldivian, and you will never get a Maldivian dish to enjoy, or whatever else might be considered local - because that´s not the concept. You get more or less European food, with here and there some touch of curry and kinda-asian food. It´s mostly cooked okay, but nothing that special. If you want to have something special: start with the desserts right away! The beach massively comes and goes, and the current is mostly rather strong so swimming where you cannot stand anymore doesn´t work at all without fins, and with fins is also exhausting. The reef is pretty dead, you won´t find much nice coral anymore, also because enough tourists step onto them and kill the bit that´s still left. The local turtle is cool though, and you will be seeing plenty of fish if you go all around the island. The only special thing and what´s amazing is the staff - everyone is amazingly nice, always helpful and wants you to have an amazing time no matter how long the week alrady has been or no matter how long the shift on the day already has been. And by the time you leave, they feel like family.
