The most wonderful stone-house with a beautiful view, tastefull interior, and a cosy atmosphere. We also enjoyed the beautiful pool-area with a clean pool and comfortable sunbeds. Tivoli en Provence is perfect for a family or a group of friends. Françoise is a perfect host. Very helpfull, kind and discreet. De would love to return.
The good: The Contigniac village is a nice place to visit, unfortunately we have booked wrong place for this region... . The bad: The host forced us to arrive prior to defined check-in time (not a good start of the stay...) We expected to be there in the evening to use most of the day for sightseeing and travel ( had to change the plans). At a later stage we discover that facilities are not clean, moreover the place is very small and not comfortable to use for a group of 4 adults and 2 kids. One bathroom with a bathtub is within the master bedroom, the only shower is in a corridor between the master bedroom and the 1st floor rooms. All that was something that we could take, but at the end the host ignored the agreed time of the check out (despite messages on the Booking and phone calls), and was making very hostile conversation which truly made all the memories very unpleasant for our family. To add more: at the premises a septic tank is located which distributes its smell around the pool and sitting area. The owner's dog which lives next door was pooping at the premises which was quite challenging. We also got familiar with some other feedback which was raising similar concerns. Too bad we have not done it earlier as we would never choose this place for such a high price! I'm adding a couple of photos showing the lack of proper cleaning: hood over the kitchen with grease, windows and floor in main room - just an example. I trust if there would be a different host and thorough cleaning all our memories could be so much different, despite the price and strange setup of the bathroom and so small rooms.
We stayed here in 2018 and it was, by far the WORST holiday we have ever had. The hosts continually came onto the property grounds and into the house, without warning. We were told upon arrival that we would need to pay the remaining fee before leaving. We offered to head to the ATM there and then, but we were assured that we cpuld pay before our departure. The third day the hosts came up to the house and demanded payment there and then (despite having seen us in the village on the second day and telling us we could pay before we left)....we gave the cash there and then. However, after they left, their two dogs appeared outside the rental property and continually barked and prowled back and forth. My husband and I decided to leave 5 days early - there was no way we could relax, given the hostility from the hosts, their dogs being released onto the grouns, and that the hosts would routinely come onto the property without warning. When we drove down to their house, the dogs ran alongside our car, barking. The host had parked his car in the lane that accessed the rental property, so we had to wait for him to get into it to move it. When he did, he called the dogs away. When we got to the host's house, we handed the keys over and said we were leaving. No question from the host as to why, and absolutely no care given. We had booked via booking.com and they couldn't have been more disinterested. I tried to leave a comprehensive review on the booking.com website, but it wasn't published in full and the host send a hostile message to me in response. Book this place at your peril. We had an awful time and we drove 10 hours non stop to get to the euro tunnel to head home. No doubt the host may respond to this to say it is all lies, but so be it. It's important that guests are warned, and it's a shame that booking.com didn't respond to my many, many emails. I still have video footage of the dogs outside the property, running alongside the car and the host blocking the lane. Never experienced such behaviour from people who are running a business!!
