Torfhús Retreat

A gem of a place. Particular praise should be given to Johann and the restaurant team. He was attentive, thoughtful, flexible on food alternatives for the kids and even taught them a few waiter tricks! A passion for the job - he could thrive in any top restaurant in London, Paris or New York. The breakfast staff were very helpful with some take away boxes for a later meal. Bravo to the chefs for creating some magical menus!

Absolutely 10 stars! Looking forward to another stay. Worth every penny. Convenient location to stay near the golden circle and close to many great stops - Geysir, secret lagoon, Gullfoss, Friðheimar. Amazing location, great view, horses will visit the fence, private hot pot, posh turf house with high/end amenities, wonderful breakfast and chef’s menu at dinner is BEYOND WORDS. Magical Icelandic Escape – A Dream Come True! I recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at Torfhús Retreat, and I can honestly say it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and breathtaking views of the Icelandic countryside. The turf-roofed lodges are beautifully designed, blending traditional Icelandic heritage with modern luxury. Our private geothermal stone hot tub was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring, especially under the stars and even the Northern Lights! The food was beyond exceptional—every meal felt like a fine dining experience, made with fresh, local ingredients. The attention to detail in everything, from the service to the decor, made this retreat truly special.
