La Torretta Ai Sassi has gorgeous skyline views of Matera. Our room opened up to a balcony directly facing the town and we were able to get iconic photographs during both the morning and evening light. Valentina is an impeccable host and the rooms are beautifully appointed. Her attention to detail makes for a most comfortable and memorable stay. Highly recommended.
What a fantastic place this was for my two nights in Matera; the views from here are amazing, across the Gravina and over Matera, morning and night the light was always beautiful. My room was wonderful and everything I needed was there thanks to the lovely Valentina, who makes the place extra special. Don’t hesitate to stay here! Also traveling solo, I felt very comfortable knowing that Valentina was available in case I needed anything. She made restaurant reservations for me and told me exactly where to park. Everything was easy and fabulous.
Absolute highlight! Our stay at Torretta ai Sassi was definitely our favorite stop in our 3 week trip to Greece and S.E.Italy. Imagine sleeping in a cave with thousands of years of history! Yet, it was beautifully restored to high standards while keeping it's ancient charm. We slept SO well. The bathroom was bright and clean, yet maintained the "cave ceiling". Valentina was a charming hostess, even providing us with extensive vegan choices each morning since that is our preference. Her Mom is a wonderful cook, and her Dad keeps the grounds beautiful. We would love to go back someday!
