TRYP by Wyndham Chetumal

Stayed here while on a trip with Fly Fishing Chetumal. Both breakfast and room were not amazing but perfectly adequate! Room was clean but housekeeping sometimes would not get to it until late afternoon. The location provides great access to the waterfront area and good restaurants.

This is not a 4 star hotel. It is more of a 2.5 to 3 stars. The water is barely lukewarm and the water pressure is poor, more like a trickle. The room is clean enough and pretty basic. The hot breakfast items are not hot and is OK tasting. The walls are thin so you can hear your nearby neighbors. The receptionist did speak excellent English and the pool area is clean. Overall, if you are looking for a true 4 star hotel this is not it.

We had a family trip, booked four rooms. The rooms were clean and decently stocked however all the rooms shower pressure was horrible. Just a dribble, the water temperature also didn’t get very hot. The shower floor was not sloped towards the drain so your shower water would puddle at your feet and it was just warm enough to not freeze you. The toilets flushed maybe once out of every four flushes, the rest you had to fill the tank up with water from the sink and just hope. We ended up using the lobby bathroom the last three days. Huge inconvenience as we were not on the first floor. The AC stopped working in the middle of the night but they quickly switched our room. Also there was a party booked in the event rooms and it was very loud and went well into the night. I felt like if they should have given us a refund for at least a portion of the price. This was not the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, there were no roaches seen, but definitely not the best. The owners need to update the bathrooms and have strict guidelines for quiet hours. The only good thing was the staff. Kind and helpful, very professional. It’s unfortunate they have to hear complaints so often from the guests.
