FUN IN NYC FROM A WELL-TRAVELED FAMILY Totally made our trip nicer and more comfortable by staying here. The location was great walking distance to the Subway A, E and NY Penn Station, very convenient to restaurants, and shops. The double queen bedroom was a roomy for 3 adults, bathroom was just right, fast hot water and hand held shower sprayer. Able to get extra towels and room housekeeping when needed. Air conditioning worked well. Able to get late check out and luggage was stored no problem till we left for the airport. Staff was accommodating, nice and friendly. Able to relax in lobby, complimentary water cooler, clean restrooms etc. Would recommend and would enjoy staying here again next time. Thank you!!
Acceptable. I can’t say any more than that. The beds and mattresses were wildly uncomfortable. We came to the city for our 20th wedding anniversary and “upgraded” to the “city view” to celebrate. And as you can see, it was “stunning.” I contacted the hotel in advance because I wanted to set up a special celebration - maybe arrange for a card or flowers in the room. After a 20 minute phone call during which it took ages for the receptionist to understand what I was saying, I was told to send an email to “John.” I did exactly that - from two different email accounts - and never heard back. Our hope to turn our stay at TRYP Wyndham into a special anniversary celebration fell on deaf ears. We were feted far more by the Off Broadway show we attended! Poor customer service, mediocre rooms, nonexistent views. You can do better.
If I could give negative or zero stars, I would. I travel often, and this hotel ranks among the worst experiences I’ve ever had — and I’ve stayed at some questionable places in South America over the years. Let’s start with the lobby: a confusing, disjointed mess that looks like someone designed it during a lunch break… and then never came back. Random vending machines shoved into corners, mismatched furniture, and an overall atmosphere of “we gave up.” It was clear from the moment I walked in that this place was going to be a problem. Customer service? Absolutely awful. Indifferent at best, rude at worst. I was treated like an inconvenience, not a paying guest. You’d think basic hospitality was a foreign concept here. Then comes the nickel-and-dime you to death policy: they wanted to charge $25 for every single hour I arrived early. No flexibility, no courtesy — just a cold, robotic “that’s our policy.” Meanwhile, their procedures seemed to change depending on who you talked to. Nothing made sense. Consistency? Not here. Need to store your luggage? They’ll shove it in a random, unmonitored room and hope for the best. I’ve seen gas station bathrooms more secure. This stay didn’t just disappoint — it actively ruined our vacation. I found myself sitting in their sad excuse of a lobby looking up other hotels, but I was stuck because it was non-refundable. Priceline didn’t even give me the chance to leave a review there (how convenient), so I’m warning you here instead: AVOID AVOID AVOID. Wyndham — your name is on this place. You should be embarrassed.
