Tsuruya

The Ryokan is very clean, comfortable and artfully decorated. Both dinner and breakfast are excellent. The staff treats their customers almost like their families. The natural onsen is high quality and you can cook your own "onsen egg".

No matter the service, hot spring or food are very good. You will enjoy your stay even you cannot speak Japanese. Staff carries translation device all the time.

The hospitality was fantastic. I stayed in late July 2025. Even standing in the hot sun for a few minutes could cause heatstroke, but they were waiting outside to greet me. As soon as they saw my car's license plate number, they called me by name, asking, "Are you Ms./Ms. X?" This was a class above other hotels. At check-in, we were served local sweets and matcha, and the young proprietress also came to visit. She's apparently quite famous, having appeared on TV. The staff remembered all the children's names and called them by name, and they passed on conversations to the next staff member. It's all a hidden effort that comes to the surface. The building may be hard to tell from the outside, but the inside is incredibly spacious. It's so beautifully renovated that it's hard to believe it was founded in the Meiji era, and I didn't feel any inconvenience. Considering the extremely high costs of maintaining and repairing a wooden building from the Meiji era, it's amazing how much work is required. Usually, the floors collapse lol. The staff was amazing compared to the number of rooms. The food was delicious, and the hot springs left my skin feeling smooth and comfortable. Everything was great. I'd love to stay here again someday.
