Landed pretty late at night and found food waiting for us in our rooms seeing as everything else in town is closed which was a very nice touch. Food is amazing (lots of choices at breakfast, good good fish as well as kid friendly options). Gym was well equipped as well + coach there to help. Also had free access to a heated pool and sauna (which was nice seeing as there was lots of wind when we were there). Visited the sister hotel on the lagoon which was also pretty to see. Spent the day there (kayaks available for use + pool).
We stayed for one week with family at Tulum Beach & Resort, advertised as a 5-star hotel. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing and far from the promised standards. Positive points • The lodge we booked was cozy and pleasant inside. • The Lina’s restaurant is by far the only true highlight of the hotel: excellent service, very attentive staff, and an incredible sunset view. • The gym has the basics for a decent workout (though poorly maintained). • The night promenade alley is nice for a short walk. Negative points • Housekeeping service is nearly non-existent: no towels available unless requested several times at reception, missing toilet paper, and no reaction from staff. • Hygiene issues: cockroaches in the common areas and even inside the lodge. • Pool & leisure: no animation or activities for children, and the pool equipment (sunbeds, covers) is in very poor condition. • Beach unusable: swimming is forbidden, and you must take a shuttle to another hotel to access a proper beach. • Water activities: the biggest disappointment. The hotel advertises kitesurfing, jet skiing, and other activities in their brochures, but nothing is actually organized. They take your name and number, promise an instructor will call, but it never happens—even after several reminders. I ended my entire stay in Dakhla without doing a single water activity, which was the main reason for choosing this destination. • Restaurants: • Cabana: disastrous service (long waits, forgotten orders, missing dishes, billing errors). • Moroccan restaurant: isolated, uninviting, rarely used. • Room service: sometimes the only option since orders at the restaurant never arrived. • Untrained and unprofessional staff: instead of solving issues, I was told “I’m also dissatisfied with what’s happening,” which is unacceptable from a service provider. Conclusion This hotel is a major disappointment. Between the closed beach, nonexistent water activities, poor hygiene, and terrible service, it has nothing of a 5-star standard. The value for money is disastrous, and we left frustrated. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel.
We were very disappointed with our stay. For the price (around €300 per night), the experience fell far below expectations. There were cockroaches in multiple rooms, a hanging chair on our terrace collapsed and caused a head injury, the bathroom leaked, and both rooms we used had strong smells of sewage and humidity. One night, a loud unexplained alarm went off and woke us up. On top of that, housekeeping didn’t clean our room one day, despite us leaving the sign. Staff admitted the smell was “disgusting,” but the only compensation offered was a massage, which felt insufficient given the series of issues. It's fair to say that they let us stay at the hotel ultil 6:00 PM as a courtesy for all the inconveniences, but the experience was very far away of what we expected. We would not recommend this hotel.
