I don't stay in the hotel but love to come to this place to play pickleball. There are 4 outdoor courts. One of them, with a wall for wall drills, is facing sunrise and sunset...
The receptionist was polite, though no help with luggage was offered. This was to be a theme during my stay; the staff I encountered were polite but never went the extra mile. Some friends & family met me on the patio one afternoon and they told me the staff refused to serve them a coffee and were not at all polite about it. Im told the manager got involved but he wasn’t helpful, either. I didn’t eat at the hotel so won’t comment on those facilities. Back at reception, there was confusion about whether I needed to pay up front or at the end, in the end she said it was up to me and gave me directions to my room. She didn’t mention anything else about the hotel other than directions to the bar. The decor and furniture is dated, and several items were entirely worn out including the carpeting & wallpaper in the narrow hallways. The place had a distinct colonial vibe, though one in which the glory days were long ago. That being said the property does have a lot of potential. The room was large with a comfortable bed and the a/c functioned well, albeit a bit noisily. One of the chairs in the room had a tear on the seat and the rug under the bed had a large dark stain. The TV remote was sticky. Housekeeping took away half the towels at one point and didn’t return them. I liked the tiles and decorative ceramic sink, though the shower was basic. Mini bar prices were high (3.50 for a small bottle of water) but there’s a grocery store down the street. I asked about laundry service coming back from a run (there are beautiful trails nearby, though they are not well marked so check before you go!) just before 12pm and was told it wouldn’t be possible as I was checking out the following day at 12pm. Their info sheet said you could pay extra for same day laundry service but they said that’s not actually available. The pool is nice (and you get a good workout climbing the hill to get there) and there were goats in the field, which was oddly soothing. It didn’t seem like the hotel had many other guests while I was there, and I enjoyed the quiet. They did allow a slightly late checkout (30 minutes) despite having a wedding booked that day, which I appreciated. Overall, it was just ok and signing up for the rewards card got me a decent discount on the room. I’d look elsewhere first if returning to the region.
We order a room for a family of 2+2. When we arrived, the only room available was a double bed room… we somehow managed due to the huge help of the receptionist girl, and the day after we were transferred to a much bigger room. The breakfast is ok, but No vegan options and no veggies.. The area is kind of dull.. medium city.
