Lovely hotel in a stunningly beautiful location overlooking the Tyrifjord. I would highly recommend booking a room with a lakeside view and a balcony - the view from our balcony was spectacular! The room was a generous size, with a great bathroom. We appreciated there being a small fridge in the room too. Excellent staff, and reasonable prices (for Norway) for food and drinks at the hotel. The only real issue is the lack of public transport in Vikersund (which is not the fault of the hotel). It's about half an hour's walk from the train station to the hotel - which is OK if the weather is fine, but not so much fun if it's raining. Taxis are very expensive. We visited the Krøderbanen in Krøderen (about 25km away) and it was over £70 each way. The twilight train went from Krøderen to Snarum and back, hence why we needed to get to Krøderen and back to Vikersund.
Situated right beside the lake this hotel looked clean and inviting on approach. Room with a balcony which is quite spacious. The staff are really nice and polite. The only thing lacking is the facility to make a hot drink.
I and my husband stay for a night. The bathroom was not cleaned , there are hair in the shower sink and very dusty all over. It was not hygienic at all. We also opened the window to get some air because it was very hot in June and when we opened the window the sides of the window has lot of spider webs and some dead insects and very dirty. When it winds all of these just come in to our room so we did not leave it open. We were not able to ask if we could change the room because we came late and we just needed a place to rest overnight so we just let it pass. But overall, it feels like it is over priced for a not well-maintained room.
