Right on the riverbank, so peaceful. The hotel restaurant was incredible, staff were so friendly and really took the time to spoil my child which was lovely, definitely a highly recommended 4 star hotel. Lovely roaring fire in the reception. Just a few miles outside of Thurso which was really convenient for getting the ferry from Scrabster to Orkney. Another shoutout the staff at breakfast, absolutely first class Scottish breakfast, totally filled us all up until dinner time. Great historical pictures of the hotel around the walls, take your time to have a look if you can.
The Ulbster Arms was a pleasant suprise in the middle of Halkirk. I quickly relaxed in the Hotels hospitable atmosphere and was blown away by my room. Spacious, very comfortable bed and I fell asleep in the Bath. Wonderful food with very attentive and friendly staff.
I came here for an evening meal, as this was the only place near my accomodation. There werent many people in the restuarant area. The service was quick and arrived shortly after ordering. I had a blade of beef, which was delicious. My partner had macaroni cheese, which was also nice and filling. Two meals and drinks for £38, I highly recommend.
