We travel often and appreciate thoughtful, high-quality places — and Universal Grand León really delivered. Elegant hotel, excellent food and drinks, and a calm, refined atmosphere. Even with our 6-month-old, everything was smooth and relaxing. Minor issues like occasional language gaps and a confusing thermostat didn’t take away from the experience. Would happily return and highly recommend.
Really nice hotel, in a good location. Has a good ambience about the place & the rooms are nice. The pool area is tranquil & it's easy to get a sunbed. The breakfast is excellent. The evening restaurant & service is unfortunately pretty average. The menu/food is variable in its quality & won't fill your appetite. The service is lacking 5* quality. Staff don't show you to a table, food takes ages to arrive & the main meal was sometimes provided whilst having the starter. I wouldn't recommend going half board, not least because there's half decent restaurants in the surrounding area.
We recently stayed at the hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the woman working by the pool sunbeds was exceptionally kind and friendly — her service really stood out and made our time there more pleasant. Also, the young man who helped us with luggage and showed us to our room did an excellent job. He was polite, attentive, and explained everything clearly. However, there were several downsides to our stay. We wrote to the hotel before our stay to book a boat tour but there was no response. Upon arrival, our reservation couldn’t be found, and the reception staff seemed rather indifferent and unhelpful, we had to help him find it, which made the check-in process stressful. The breakfast service was also lacking. Nobody informed us that there was a separate breakfast menu available, and overall, the staff seemed disengaged. We had booked a room with a junior suite with side sea view, which was more expensive than the courtyard junior suite, but unfortunately, the room was quite disappointing. There were cobwebs in the bathroom, suggesting it hadn’t been cleaned properly in a while. The balcony was spacious, but the sea view was minimal, and the space felt cold and uninviting — even a few plants or flowers would have made a big difference. The pool sunbeds were always mostly booked with towels but we usually were able to find 2 free sunbeds. Overall, there were a few highlights thanks to individual staff members, but the general service and room quality did not match the price we paid. Don't see a reason to return to this hotel.
