URH Palacio de Oriol Hotel

On a plus side - beautiful historic building with a small park around, quiet (yes, there are trains down there, but they don't go at night, and in general they were not an issue to us), big room with a nice bed for 2, great view on a harbour, openable windows (huge), refrigerator, working elevator. A little minuses - super long check in (it felt like they were hiring me to work :), no teapot (water heater) in the room, was no clear direction where to enter hotel without stairs. So overall it was enjoyable experience.

It was a privilege staying in such a lovely historical building. It is exceptionally clean, with spacious common areas. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was large with an extremely comfortable bed and quality linen. The bathroom was also big, with plenty of storage areas in both. Loved it. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Super expensive but at first seems justified by the very nice photos online and from looking at the building from the outside. But then the rooms are average at best, there are stains everywhere in the hallways and in the room. Me and my girlfriend have been bitten pretty badly by bed bugs, told the receptionist and he didn’t even wanted to look at the bites, just promptly said “thanks I’ll let the cleaning lady know”! On top of all this, location is not great either, if your goal is to visit Bilbao (almost 1 hour away by train).
