Valamar Carolina Hotel & Villas

This was our third time at the Carolina, and the umpteenth time at a Valamar hotel. We must say that it is beyond dispute that the best service is found here in Croatia. When we arrive on the island of Rab, a sense of homely calmness overtakes us. The Hotel itself and its surroundings are beyond dispute the most optimal. The well-kept green lawn, the trees, the cicadas, the turquoise sea. The pool is not crowded either, a perfect place to relax. Last but not least, the dog-friendly policy is also impeccable, and the villas offer a cloudless vacation! The booking, check-in and handling of affairs are extremely correct and flexible. The staff is always kind and extremely helpful. We have no complaints. We recommend the Carolina Hotel to everyone. Finally, I would like to highlight one negative impression: the villas could use a little sprucing up. Some of them have a slightly musty smell. I think this could be remedied cost-effectively.

We recently spent our vacation at this absolutely stunning hotel, and it truly exceeded all our expectations. Located on a picturesque peninsula, the hotel offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea from three sides – it’s like being surrounded by the ocean. The location alone is simply sensational and feels like a hidden paradise. The hotel offers a private parking area exclusively for guests – very convenient and secure. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and very well-equipped. The rooms are modern, stylish, and extremely comfortable – every detail has been thoughtfully considered. We immediately felt at home. The entire property is impeccably maintained and offers everything one could wish for during a relaxing or active holiday. The breakfast buffet is generous, fresh, and offers a wide variety of options to suit every taste – and it’s served until 11 a.m., which is fantastic for a leisurely start to the day. The evening buffet is equally impressive: varied, refined, and truly delicious. However, the dinner time from 7 to 9 p.m. felt a bit short, and it would be nice if it started earlier. We also missed the exquisite dinner that used to be served at the beach restaurant – this was always a highlight in previous years. While the beach restaurant now hosts evening events, we hope the regular dinner service might return in the future. There are countless ways to spend your day: two great pools, stand-up paddle boards (SUPs) for rent, and wonderful turquoise bays right around the hotel that are perfect for swimming and snorkeling in crystal-clear water. For biking enthusiasts, this place is a dream – there are fantastic mountain biking trails nearby. E-bikes and regular bikes can be rented easily, and mountain bikes are even delivered directly to the hotel, so you can hit the trail first thing in the morning. The nearby town of Rab is easily accessible, either by car or via a charming boat taxi. The staff at the hotel are exceptionally friendly, helpful, and attentive – they made our stay even more enjoyable. As a family, we felt truly welcomed and relaxed from the moment we arrived. The hotel still feels like a bit of a secret spot – not overcrowded, yet offering top-notch service and facilities. All in all, it was a wonderful holiday. We absolutely loved it here and are already looking forward to coming back. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team!

By far, this is the best hotel we've stayed in on the island of Rab. I highly recommend it to those who appreciate tranquility, a cultured landscape, and delicious Croatian cuisine. Furthermore, the hotel boasts interesting modernist, minimalist architecture that blends seamlessly into the landscape. The icing on the cake is the swimming pool with its breathtaking view of the bay.
