Vale d'El Rei Hotel & Villas

We had a wonderful stay at Vale del Rey. The Rooms were clean and large, the mattresses were very good. Thanks to the amazing guest lady ( I think her name is Daniela) , we had a wonderful stay , following our disastrous experience at their restaurant for lunch. This is really bad that their restaurant is definitely not a 4 star level . The food is low level frozen, the waiters do not understand properly English, we paid almost 70 euros for 3 salads without seasoning, 1 frozen supermarket like pizza , and chicken wings with still feather on them 😵‍💫. Fortunately, the lady from the guest relations heard our story and provided us with some upgrades 🙂. The breakfast was far more better even though it was in the same place. Finally, even the whole place is not walkable to Carvoeiro ( you need a car) , it has a stunning view to the coast, and especially at night! There is also a nice gym with many kind of dumbbells for the fitness lovers !

The facilities are fantastic, comfy bed, good shower, nice pool and the grounds are beautiful. The staff were the highlight of the hotel, extremely helpful and friendly. The place itself is a little out of the way of things you'd want to do but Uber was ridiculously cheap so this wasn't an issue for us at all. My only downside would be the food for me but I may not be the best judge as I cannot partake in a buffet... Children and bugs make them gross in concept for me personally. The restaurant on site did not open the whole week I was there and coffee on site was genuinely terrible. Luckily there was a lovely lady making omelettes on demand so breakfast was always enjoyable. With the amount of amazing restaurants and cafés within a 8km radius (€6 Uber) this would not prevent me recommending this place at all but also made the food on site stand out as low quality.

Nice quiet hotel, with lovely gardens, we stayed in villa 26. As it wasn't yet main holiday season we had no issue with sun beds. There are 2 pools, although we mostly used the main one in order to be able to get a drink during the day. We arrived just after 10.30 and we were not able to access our villa until just before 5pm which wasted a day of our holiday having booked the earlier flight to give us the extra day. There were not lots of other new arrivals who also required their rooms to be ready, so we would have anticipate that the hotel would prioritise rooms to be cleaned and new arrivals. So we were disappointed with this. The shuttle into caroeiro goes 3 times per day and none in the evening. This didn't impact us, ubers were cheap and in June, readily available. The pool bar, slow service even when one or two other customers. On one occasion I ordered a ceasar salad, and was brought a wrap, they returned with another incorrect salad, then they didn't return. After half an hour i canceled my food, 2 other tables were also having issues that day. There was only this restaurant open during our visit. The villa was very spacious, plenty of hot water, clean and tidy. The kitchen was well equipped ( although we didn't have an iron, which we asked reception for and they said they'd bring the following day... but it never arrived). We had a small patio area which needed a little upgrade in comparison to some of the others but it was more than adequate for us. If you don't like cats( as we know some people don't) there were only 2 that we saw and they were not near the food area and kept to themselves. Great place for a quiet week away, but in retrospect, for us, we wouldnt return as we would prefer something a little closer( but not central) to a main village/town, which was our error.
