Valle Escondido Nature Reserve Hotel & Farm

Beautiful hotel and friendly staff. The jungle garden is amazing. The rooms were nice but small. The food is organic which was not really my taste, the pizzas and cocktails were tasty. The breakfast was simple, but ends early which caused a big row and shortage of food towards the end of the breakfast.

The hotel was beautiful, with spacious bedrooms and great service from almost all the staff—though the chef cooking the eggs at breakfast was noticeably rude towards guests (speaking rudely and shoving the eggs on your plate), which was a slight letdown. Breakfast itself, however, was excellent, with a very good selection of food, including fresh farm-to-table options. The homemade granola in particular was exceptional and a real standout. The restaurant overall was a real highlight: prices were very reasonable given the excellent quality of the food, and dining with the stunning views. Happy hour was another lovely touch, with sunset views and complimentary popcorn adding to the experience. Getting around the property was easy, and the walking trails were a real pleasure—mostly gentle and accessible, and offering exceptional views of valleys and waterfalls at the end. The strong emphasis on permaculture and sustainable farming throughout the site was fascinating to see in action. You can spend hours learning on this and keeping busy! Although we didn’t encounter much wildlife ourselves on the trails, hiring a guide (which we didn't) would likely improve your chances. A small note: it can get quite windy, so bringing a light jacket is recommended. At night, the wind can sometimes make the rooms feel breezy and you constantly hear it howling outside —something to keep in mind if you're a light sleeper. The bathroom itself may feel stuffy. Overall, a wonderful stay with beautiful surroundings, fantastic food, and a thoughtful approach to sustainability.

Truly recommend staying here or at least coming to the restaurant. I stayed here & took the permaculture tour. The tour was great and talked about different sustainable practices you can implement at home as well as demonstrating some of the practices they use on site. The staff is friendly & helpful. Saw lots of birds, monkeys, & agoutis. I walked all the trails & the views are incredible, lots of different viewpoints and options for different skill level. The waterfall views were great. The food was very good as well, a lot of it is fresh from their gardens.
