Valle Grande Resort is a fantastic choice if you're looking to stay in the heart of nature while exploring Sicily. The peaceful setting is perfect for relaxing, and the view from the pool is absolutely beautiful — a great place to unwind and take in the scenery. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. We especially appreciated their flexibility when we asked for a late check-out so we could spend the day at the beach in Cefalù. They kindly let us keep the room until later in the day, which allowed us to come back, shower, and head off comfortably to our next stop in Syracuse. Overall, it was a great experience and we’d definitely recommend Valle Grande Resort to anyone who wants to enjoy the natural beauty of Sicily with warm hospitality.
Would give a 3.5 if possible. My husband and I stayed here in May and overall, found the hotel to be quite pleasant. The location is spectacular, truly special and serene. You are surrounded by wilderness and rolling Sicilian hills. The layout of the hotel is good, with special mention to the swimming pool as it was breathtaking each time we saw it. Service was mostly good, though at breakfast it was often lacking and things took their time to be done or to arrive. Moving on to the things that prevented me giving 5 stars: the decking around the pool was uneven and some slats were sticking out, I injured myself once as did another young boy who was staying there at the same time. Though my injury wasn’t too severe, he had cut himself and was bleeding. Nothing was done about this during the duration of our stay. Secondly, as we stayed there for 5 nights, I asked the hotel reception for a replacement of our pool towels. As you can imagine, 3/4 days of using them makes them a little smelly. I was told this was possible but I would have to pay around €15 to cover the laundry fees. (?) This is so unheard of, especially for a four star resort. I also requested an iron for my clothes but was told they didn’t have one. Again, for a four star hotel, my expectations were not matched. The spread at breakfast was very limited. As someone who doesn’t eat meat, there was extremely little choice. Warm options were unheard of, even the scrambled eggs were cold- not room temp- but cold. It would also have been helpful if there was a shuttle running from the hotel into the town. The grounds of the hotel at the bottom of the pool were quite messy and not landscaped at all. There was a children’s park but it was completely overgrown and looked like something from a dystopian movie set. Overall, I loved the hotel but the facilities and amenities really do not reflect the price per night or the star grading. Not brilliant value for money but such a beautiful hotel with potential to be perfect.
Spent three nights together with my girlfriend and overall the facilities are fine and the pool is nice but we were not impressed by neither the food nor the service. The breakfast buffet is super minimalistic where they want to show pride in their “ecologically farmed products”. In reality, all they offer is low quality cheese and yoghurt that you buy in a supermarket together with a dry scrambled egg and dry bread with the possibility to pay an extra 6-8 euros to get either pancakes or an omelette. The only product that we noticed from their own farm was the jam. For lunch and dinner, we had a difficult time to find something we wanted to eat. We were given an iPad with pictures and long descriptions of each dish. Everything on the menu is complicated and they do not understand the concept of simplicity or classic dishes. After all, we ordered 3 cheese balls for something like 15 euros and a small pasta dish each for 20 something each. Also, when my girlfriend asked what she could order as a vegetarian the staff member sighed and said they could remove the anchovies from one of the dishes. Once it came out it still had the anchovies on it. To summarise, we do not recommend the restaurant at all due to the high prices, low quality food and bad service. Finally, the hotel did not have anything of that little extra that you expect from a hotel charging 200+ euros a night. No water on the room, no knowledge of where we can go for wine tasting nearby, no new towels to the pool unless you pay for it and no help in carrying the bags across the pebble ground to the parking once you check out. Generally, the people in the reception were unhelpful no matter what you asked for and the people in the restaurant were tired ans not service minded at all unfortunately. Overall, we were happy with the pool and the guy taking care of us at the pool area. Also, the rooms are nice and due to that the hotel has possibilities to become good. However, we do not believe it is worth the money they are charging with the service they provide today and we would not book it again. Edit: as the owner wrote a super rude reply and after reading many other reviews with the same kind of replies, I decided to update my review from 3 stars to 1. How can you as a hotel reply in such an hostile and offensive way, instead of taking the comments into consideration as actual feedback to improve? Reading through only the last 10 reviews, the majority are negative with similar experiences of your bad service and food. You trying to defending yourself saying everyone else love your breakfast (which, according to other reviews, is not true) and that I should book a cheaper hotel if it was too expensive (which is not what I said when I commented on your hotel not being worth the money you are charging, which is something many others have commented on as well). Also, using the pool area upon early check-in is expected to be accommodated. In addition, you informing all guests that it is forbidden to stay at the hotel premises after check-out is something I have never seen in my life. I really recommend you to take my comment and all other reviews into consideration to better both your service and the way you handle reviews.
