This was an amazing experience. No pool!? Gene is an amazing asset that I cannot begin to express to corporate headquarters. He was relating to and engaging with people when I arrived. When I left, my group was large and he ran over and asked…”The desk looks busy, can I take your room number and send a receipt?” Then 2 minutes later there was a line at the coffee bar. Gene asked if he could get me a coffee and did. Really exceptional hospitality I have never experienced. Thanks Gene!
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Valley Hotel Homewood Birmingham and were thoroughly impressed. Our room was wonderfully spacious, offering plenty of room to relax and unwind. The bathroom was a highlight, featuring a large walk-in shower with fantastic water pressure. After a long day, the comfortable bed and pillows provided an excellent night's sleep. We also appreciated the ambient lighting, which created a truly pleasant and inviting atmosphere throughout the room. This hotel truly understands how to create a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
I really wish I could leave a better review of this hotel; it truly has so much potential! First, the positives: We stayed for a week and as a former resident of Birmingham, I can attest that this is one of the best locations (if not THE best) location in entire city. It is walkable to many restaurants, shops, nail salons, and boutique gyms (shout out to Battle Republic and Provision Studio, who allow drop in registrations). Also, the common spaces were lovely, as the hotel has a beautiful lobby, nicely equipped gym, and a cute breakfast/coffee cafe. Now for the unfortunate and BIG negatives: The room was dirty, especially the bathroom. It was overall grimey (shower icky and ring around the toilet...it hadn't seen a bowl brush in a while). Room was dusty with glassware rings on tables, it looked like counters hadn't been cleaned. And for the last negative, customer service was spotty and staff was not overly friendly. It took two requests over two days get someone to come clean the toilet. **Sigh** So disappointing at this price point. If you want something similarly walkable with nice amenities, I have had a positive experience at the Grand Bohemian Mountain Brook.
