Van Chai Resort

Really nice and unique hotel on the beach front.

Overall, a very pleasant atmosphere with attentive service. The resort and the rooms are kept very clean, it feels magical! I wanted to give 5 stars, but my husband, who has Celiac disease (can’t have any gluten, wheat, barley, rye, traditional soy sauce) got sick from eating one of the meals at Van Chai. We specifically requested every time to have no wheat flour or soy sauce in his food, and asked to not reuse oil after frying anything that contains wheat. The dishes themselves were not made with any ingredient he can’t have, but there was likely some cross-contamination that went unnoticed, which made him sick. I wouldn’t blame the cooks at Van Chai - they did their best and didn’t mean to poison him. In general, the knowledge about Celiac disease and the gluten-free diet is very limited in Vietnam, so eating out is always risky. We recommend coming here, but if you have any severe allergy or autoimmune disorder (like Celiac), best to avoid the resort or bring your own food to be safe.

Not being maintained very well. We had the 2 deluxe connected rooms. When asking for drinks at the bar, multiple things were not available. Similar situation in terms of the spa service. A lot of mosquitoes. Last night there we heard rats running on the roof. However the food was decent, and the room was clean. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the garden.
