Van der Valk Hotel Apeldoorn De Cantharel

A perfect place to start and end our cycling trip in Holland. The rooms were lovely, clean and spacious, the breakfast and the restaurant didn't disappoint and although the location is quite a far away from the city, it was easy to reach by bus & the proximity to nature more than made up for it.

Many activities to do. A relaxing getaway in nature. Swimming pool was warmed up, it was amazing. Easy reachable with public transport as the bus stops in front of the hotel. Unlimited free coffee, tea and water.

Great location, you can walk straight into the woods. Unfortunately during Easter weekend the hotel must have been busy, which however had an effect on the hygiene of the facilities. If you offer wellness then make sure the dirty towels are not all over the floor for the guests to see. Also if your selling point is we have adult and child friendly hrs to the wellness when this can't be kept up/ policed and the kids are running rampant, then don't use it as a selling point. Just be truthful. Sadly we had a pretty bad experience with one of the staff of the bistro and believe me when I say this, I have a background in hospitality. This was not acceptable behaviour. Sadly the reception after hearing this did not seem like they wanted to do anything about it, which was really disappointing. Also the room I was staying must have not been aired in a while, because I sneezed the entire stay from the dust-mites. Will not be returning in the future.
