Van der Valk Hotel Assen

Very nice hotel with different style. Country house type, long way to reach your room. The room is very nice, spacious and comfortable. Only one thing bothered me that was the glass with such a bad condition. The rest of the stay were great.. the hotel staff was helpfull to book me a taxi to the train station.

The rooms and the design of the hotel are nice. However the front desk team needs major training. One girl kept on being so unbearably unprofessional and rude that she made me create a fuss even though I'm not a fan of conflict. Besides being disrespectful, she refused to share her name. I could not write a complaint about her blatant unprofessionalism, and further I was not able to get a number for the manager to attempt to resolve the issue. I was not able to get a single name of the staff while, clearly, they have all of my information. A very 2 star motel experience. To elaborate on the conflict, I came up to her (smiling, with all American friendliness) in the morning to order a taxi, she ignored me. I went over to speak to her colleague. Yet a second later, when a male approached her, she heard him. Then, later on that day I came up to her with a quick question about restarant closing time when she shushed me telling me she is busy. Shushed in a rude manner, which took longer than giving me the time of closure. And she kept on proceeding to be verbaly agressive. I am not sure what her qualifications were to get a front desk job but she should not interact with customers if the hotel wants to keep having returning customers.
