Van der Valk Hotel Gent

It’s pretty good. Large spacious rooms, clean and tidy. The carpet feels a bit dirty when walking on it bare feet but slippers are provided. They refill the amenities daily which is very nice. The shower gel/shampoo etc smell nice and are generous in big bottles on the wall but they also give you them in tiny containers to take home - nice touch. The bath tub is a really nice bonus in my room. The bathroom itself is bigger than my bedroom at home! There is no heated towel rack. There are loads of mosquitos, I see previous guests have killed them on the walls and ceilings, I woke up every evening after being stung multiple times. Pest control not acceptable. Breakfast price is significantly higher if you book at check in vs online during your reservation. View overlooks some industrial estate with a load of factories. Location is quite far out of the city centre but for me I needed to be in the area for a meeting which made sense. The AH supermarket next door is quite handy to get food. Staff is very friendly both at the reception and the restaurant.

This hotel is absolutely spectacular! The breakfast was delicious every morning, the staff was incredibly kind, and the service was top-notch. The beds were so comfortable — I slept like a baby every night. They truly make you feel at home in every way. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Gent. Highly recommended!

We have spent more than 40 nights in this hotel this year. All their members of staff were always going the extra mile for us, with exceptional attention, care and the will to respond to our enquiries fast. It does make your experience outstandingly pleasant, stress-free and make you want to stay again in the very same hotel. Also, the rooms and suites are very comfortable, breakfast and restaurant are very decent (probably the best choice in all of Ghent) and the parking is spacious and handy with lifts straight to the rooms.
