Van der Valk Hotel Sassenheim Leiden

We had a very pleasant stay at Van der Valk Hotel Sassenheim. The location is excellent, with beautiful surroundings that add to the overall experience. The rooms were spacious, well-arranged, and impeccably clean. Everything was thoughtfully provided, making the stay comfortable. The staff was friendly, cooperative, and always ready to help, contributing positively to the overall service quality. The hotel offers multiple dining options, and among them, Nest stood out as the best. The breakfast spread was also impressive with a variety of choices to suit different tastes. The only area of improvement I would highlight is the pricing—it felt slightly on the higher side compared to the overall value for money. That said, it was a well-rounded and enjoyable stay. I would certainly consider coming back and recommend it to others.

This is an amazing hotel. We only spend one night but it was fantastic and for sure we will go back! The room we stayed was beautiful and big, with a nice balcony. The hotel is very pretty and has two restaurants. We ate at Nest and the food was very good at a reasonable price. Contrary to the large majority of restaurants in the NL, the serve the wine almost like in Italy or Spain, which is great! The location is great if you are with a car, otherwise it can feel a bit disconnected. But they do have bikes there. Everything was perfectly set to make you have a wonderful time!

Unfortunately, our stay at Van der Valk Sassenheim was disappointing. While the rooms were clean, they were quite small. The staff was often unfriendly and unapproachable — both at reception and during breakfast. The fitness room was dirty and poorly maintained. The air conditioning in the gym was broken, making it uncomfortable to use, and the water dispenser was empty and never refilled. The air conditioning in our room worked fine, but overall the hotel lacked attention to basic maintenance and service quality. On a positive note, breakfast was generous and offered a wide variety. However, the moody behavior of the staff negatively impacted the experience even there. The hotel has potential, but service and cleanliness need serious improvement.
