Very nice renovated rooms. The poil is very quiet
Nice modest place
Vantaris Palace / Vantaris Garden comfortable accommodation, great service, beautiful sandy beach. V Garden is across the main road from V Palace and there is a tunnel underneath the main road connecting the two hotels. Vantaris Garden: Location. The rooms facing "the sea" are also facing the main road Rethymno-Chania, a very busy and noisy road, making it hard to sleep with the window/door open. Room. Comfortable. Quite large rooms, nice, but noisy balcony. Big plus: mosquito net on the window/door, rarely seen in Greece... Comfortable beds, bed sheets look clean. Furniture not so clean, could use a good wiping, since it has a lot of marks where it is mostly used. Incredibly small fridge - can hardly fit 1.5l bottles of water. AC - seems well maintained, but not the best: it stops by itself after a while..., even if left on, strangely! Room service every day. Thank you. Bathroom. Mostly fine, a bit of mould here and there (it can be fixed with chlorine products!). Awful bathroom towels: gray of time and use - used to be white a veeery loooong time ago. Do not smell fresh either; smell of a lot of washing powder... Awful beach towels, also waaay overused. Vantaris Garden beach towels are different from Vantaris Palace, which are new and look nice - adding to the discomfort of using them... Half board. All meals served in Vantaris Palace. Food is great! Variety and taste. Breakfast. Freshly squeezed orange juice is served every day. Variety. Even a chocolate fountain. Breakfast also serves water... Lunch. Great. Variety. Dinner food was great: great variety and very well cooked and served. Absolutely no drinks included with lunch or dinner, NOT EVEN tap WATER. 5.5€/0.75ml or 3€/1L water bottle or 4€/glass of "juice" from a dispenser. Drinks from the bar are tasty, when charged. Beach. Great. Large, fine sandy beach, very few pebbles only by the water line. Fine sand. Beach chairs are 5€/day for one. Umbrellas do not offer much shade... Note to Kalamaki Travel - local agent: the bus from the airport dropped us 400m away from the hotel, at the intersection, saying it is impossible for a bus to enter the road in front of Vantaris Garden, and ALL 400M we had to drag our luggage through DUST and rubble (road under construction at that moment), JUST to find out that check in and check out for Vantaris Garden is done in the main reception area of Vantaris Palace, across the street, where the bus can EASILY enter, drop luggage, park, turn, etc... !!!!! And that Vantaris Palace is nice enough to give a ride from reception to Vantaris Garden when people check in or out!!!With luggage! Extremely annoying and I find it inadmissible that a LOCAL AGENT (KALAMAKI TOUR) had not considered this! Overall - comfortable hotel. More comfort in V Palace, but great value in V Garden.
