Vaya Zell Am See

We were very impressed with this hotel for a week in early March for skiing, booked with Sunweb. It's truly ski-in/ski-out. The room was big and comfortable. Everything was clean and worked well. Buffet breakfasts were great. Dinners were wonderful with a choice of dishes (meat, fish or veggie) which you select from the menu at breakfast time. The indoor swimming pool was a great bonus to fill in the time between the end of skiing and dinner. It wasn't too busy. Be aware that the runs down to the hotel are black and red but there is the option of returning by cable car.

Not worth the price. The entire time we felt as if their only purpose was to save on us and get more money out of us. 1. extra parking fee 8€/day (and we still had trouble finding a place to park, since they have na insufficient parking lot) 2. tap water at dinner for extra 4,5€! 3. Low quality breakfast, where you only got to choose from leftovers if you came in later 4. Very simple dinner options, that were just ok, but certainly not what you would have expected at this price. 5. A swimming pool that can fit a total of three people and closes at 8pm 6. Rooms that look much older than advertised and are definitely in need of a reconstruction. And so on… The only positives were the few lovely and talkative waitresses (from Bulgaria and Czechia), who really did their best to make our stay better. So overall, I wouldn’t say the staff is the problem, the management and the hotel budget are. A big shame.

I have been to many hotels around the world and I have never been exposed to a situation like this that happened to me. The hotel took the full insurance money from me, which is 500 euros, without any right because I was two hours late instead of leaving at 10 o’clock. I left at 12 o’clock and they took 500 euros, and an hour they have 150 euros, which means that only 300 euros should be taken, but the full 500 euros were taken unjustly. This is considered fraud and deception, and this is unfortunately not befitting of the hotel’s reputation. I do not know if the hotel management knows about this matter.
