The hotel is located right in the heart of the Old City, and the location is excellent. If you're arriving by car, keep in mind that vehicles are not allowed inside the Old City, so you'll need to walk about 5–10 minutes to reach the hotel after parking. You can email the hotel in advance to ask about parking options — the detailed information they provide about free and paid parking is very helpful. The rooms are authentic and functional. It's a nice touch to have a fridge and a kettle. It would have been better if there were one or two more hooks on the bathroom wall. I really liked the hotel toiletries; they were all made with olive oil. On the first day of check-in, they offer a welcome drink with a choice of Aperol Spritz, wine, or beer — a very nice gesture. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We were satisfied with the cleanliness of the room. The hotel’s restaurant is lovely; the food was beautifully presented and tasted great. Breakfast had a good variety, but the same options were served every day. After staying for four nights, we were hoping for some variety. The taste wasn’t particularly impressive. The bed was small and narrow for two people, too soft and not very comfortable — we didn’t sleep well.
My wife and I stayed at Veneto in September 2024 as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is located in the perfect part of Rethymno, easily accessible from both parking and the restaurants along the harbor. The property was beautiful, and all the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were nice, although the shower was rather small and the beds could probably use an upgrade. We only stayed one night but really enjoyed our experience. We also enjoyed a wonderful wine-tasting at Veneto, which was a relaxed experience led by Venteo's sommelier, Rafael, and his protege, Daniel, who were both wonderful and knowledgeable. Our tasting included paired food, which was all delicious. Our personal favorites were the Cretan tomato jam and cheesecake.
Room is spacious but ironically, the shower cubicle is tiny. The interior finishing needs to be updated as they are visibly old. Not 'old' as in old world charm but old. For example, the curtain tracks were stuck and prevented the proper opening of the windows. The hair dryer that was attached to the toilet also had a "Not Working" sign pasted onto it. Almost all hotels in Greece uses their local produce for toiletries but the hair and body shampoo for this place are imported from China... Will leave the reader to figure out the reason :) One of the windows open to the courtyard where the restaurant is so some noise can be heard even with the windows closed if there are diners. But the level is not loud to be disturbing. Restaurant closes at 12am with some guests staying later than that occasionally. About 200m to the harbour so it is centrally located with restaurants all around. The 2 ladies manning the reception were helpful and knowledgeable. If you're a guest at the hotel, you are supposed to get a 10% discount when dining at the onsite restaurant, but it was not extended in our case even though we asked for confirmation. Details in the review of the restaurant separately.
