Venta Juanilla

This hotel deserves five stars and we didn't even sleep there (yet). They bring an incredibly important and free fast charging facility for electric cars to the highway to Madrid which saved our night and hopefully brings us to the Madrid-Ajax match tomorrow. Thanks so much for these awesome services. Super hospitality.

Hidden gem: worth the trip. We stopped for lunch on the way to Logroño from Madrid and were nicely surprised at the excellent quality of of the lunch offering. We had the 12 euro lunch menu and enjoyed the salmorejo, followed by excellent morcilla (it’s the region for this specialty) with eggs and crispy French fries and excellent pudding dessert, locally made. After a very long drive in stormy conditions we were both tired and hungry when we arrived at the hotel about 8pm. Although we did not have a prior booking, we were greeted warmly by Pio the hotel manager who was very efficient and helpful. He gave us a room for the rate shown on Booking.Com, instead of the higher "walk in" rate. Pio showed us to our room and even insisted on carrying our case! We had a spacious and clean double room with en suite bathroom with both bath and shower. The room had a large bed, TV and a safe. Pio left us to inform the chef that we would be coming to dinner soon. The restaurant was characterful and Pio couldn't have been more helpful and he translated the whole menu into English without us even asking. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with good wines after which we had a good night's sleep and didn't wake up until 9:30am! As soon as we went downstairs Pio was already at work and he gave us a complimentary coffee whilst he finalised our bill. He then took us on a tour of the 1,000 year hotel, which is huge and had many unusual and lovely things to see. Overall we had an excellent stay in a lovely hotel and the customer service by Pio and his team was first class. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the future.
