We recently enjoyed a 10-day stay at Veranda Grand Baie and had a very positive experience overall. The hotel's atmosphere was consistently welcoming and friendly, which we truly appreciated. It provided a quiet and peaceful base for our time there, which was exactly what we were looking for. While we didn't participate extensively in the offered entertainment programs ourselves, we noted there seemed to be a good variety available for guests. The presence of a well-maintained gym and activity areas was also a plus. A particular highlight was the exceptional service from our housekeeper, Vimah. Her genuine friendliness was evident and very much appreciated. She maintained our room to an excellent standard – it was consistently well-maintained and clean, always feeling fresh, almost like returning to a newly prepared room each day. We are sincerely grateful for her attentive work. We are also pleased to note that the few specific requests we did make during our stay were handled promptly and efficiently by the staff. This was a comfortable and hospitable stay, and we would certainly recommend this hotel.

Pros: • Excellent location: The hotel is right on the beach and just a short distance from the lively center of Grand Baie, making it easy to explore the area. • Welcoming staff: The team at reception and around the hotel generally offer a warm welcome, which adds a nice touch to the arrival experience. • Range of services: There is a good variety of services offered on-site, which gives guests plenty of options for relaxation and entertainment. • Good value for money: The pricing is competitive for the location and facilities, making it an accessible option in the Grand Baie area. • Tastefully decorated rooms: The interiors of the rooms are pleasant and well-maintained, creating a comfortable atmosphere, whilst the bed (mattress) itself wasn’t very comfortable. Cons: • Underwhelming catering: The food experience was disappointing, with very small portions and quality that didn’t meet expectations. I asked for soft boiled eggs at breakfast and received eggs that weren’t cooked enough. • Noise issues: Rooms are not well insulated, and conversations or movements from neighboring rooms or the outside can be clearly heard, which affects rest and privacy. • Limited views: Despite being beachfront, most rooms do not offer sea views, which might be a letdown for some guests. • Inconsistent WiFi: Internet speed and coverage across the hotel were unreliable, which can be frustrating, especially for those needing connectivity. • Staff competence: While friendly, some staff members lacked proper training. The check-out process was disorganized, with errors in the invoice. Additionally, the client survey system was either not working or unfamiliar to the reception staff. Overall: Hotel Veranda offers a great location and good value, with warm hospitality and pleasant decor. However, there are areas that need improvement, particularly in terms of food quality, soundproofing, and staff training. It may still suit budget-conscious travelers who prioritize location.
