Great location! This hotel does the job but it is worn and not the cleanest. Towels are sparse, so you need to ask for what you need. We enjoyed the rooftop bar. The restaurant had some ceiling leak happening but handled it very professionally. Food was good and so was service. Coffee shop is cute with good lattes. It would be great to see hotel halls vacuumed and elevator floors clean - that is an easy area to improve upon.
The Lincoln is spectacularly located. Seems to be in the heart of the Lincoln Park Gay neighborhood. The rooms are small and kind of grubby. Seriously in need of a deep cleaning and update. Lobby is sort of dowdy, and small. The rooftop restaurant has fantastic views of the City and lake and makes pretty good drinks. Service is good, but the food is barley average. I think the "omelet" my partner for brunch had was made with powdered eggs...
We checked in and checked out twenty minutes later. The rooms are just plainly not acceptable, especially for the price point. It was not clean. It was outdated. There were flies buzzing around. The AC was an old window unit that was so loud that sleeping would have been impossible. The bathtub was dirty and gross. I don’t even want to talk about the toilet. The “decor” was a…sheet (?) above the bed with Abe Lincoln on it with smudges of dirt (?) for added “character”. The window “shade” looked like a dirty sleeping bag that they had hung above the window. The closet had a canvas sheet-like cover over it, not an actual door. My partner commented that it looked liked a cabin at a kids’ summer camp. It would have been disappointing for a cheap motel room, much less for an allegedly four star hotel. The only nice things I can say are that the location is great (I assume that’s what keeps it afloat) and they let us cancel our reservation free of charge after we came down to complain about the room (something I have never had to do in a hotel before). The staff did not seem at all surprised that we weren’t pleased with the room - suspect this is a pretty normal occurrence at the Hotel Lincoln. I cannot believe Hyatt allows their brand to be associated with this hotel.
