We recently stayed at this hotel and had a great overall experience. The location is excellent — central, convenient, and easy to access nearby attractions. The staff were especially friendly and accommodating, always quick to respond and fulfill room requests with efficiency and professionalism. The hotel team did go above and beyond for us. Everyone who works here was truly lovely and welcoming. One of the standout features is the rooftop pool patio. The views are stunning, and it’s a great place to relax. That said, the pool area could benefit from a bit more organization. Having a dedicated pool attendant for food and drink service would really elevate the experience and make better use of the space for guests. The pool itself has more of a cocktail-lounge vibe, which makes it feel more appropriate for adults. It would be ideal if the hotel clearly designated this area as 18+ or adults-only, as it’s not particularly suitable for children. Despite a few minor suggestions for improvement, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay

As someone with family experience in hotel management, I tend to notice the details—especially at a four-star property like the Viceroy. The location is excellent: steps from Lake Michigan and surrounded by great restaurants and bars in Chicago's Gold Coast. However, several service lapses stood out: 1. Room service missed the chicken on a late-night salad order that I placed. 2. The dirty service tray and dishes sat outside my door from Monday evening through at least Wednesday morning when I left the room. There was at least one other room on my hallway where trays sat out for over a day. 3. Only one working elevator led to long waits; I saw guests miss a conference shuttle. 4. The gym was small, lacked equipment and would be easily crowded with more than a few guests. 5. A conference room glass appeared unwashed from the prior day, with lip marks still visible. 6. The men’s restroom lacked tissues, yet the empty box sat on the counter. On the positive side, Randy from the conference team was outstanding—friendly and accommodating throughout. These may seem like small issues, but they reflect a broader lack of attention to detail, which is critical in delivering the level of service expected at a resort of this caliber. How the staff handles small things, is indicative of how they approach the larger things when it comes to exceptional service. The Viceroy has so much potential, and I'll be a champion and advocate when some of these details guests would come to expect are fixed.

Trying to figure out how they can charge plus$700 a night , if you are going to charge that rate a night, your service and amenities should be top notch. When we arrived after 4:00 , our room was not ready , keep in mind check in is 4:00, room was already paid for, she then said we can get you in at a lower level. We accepted. At the time of check in, they said please check out our rooftop bar , However ,they did not say you need a reservation. We paid over 700 a night and could not get into the bar!!!! The hostess was super rude and did not provide any other recommendations. We were hotel guests we left to spend our money elsewhere. Room just ok nothing special , so service should be good, not the case ,save your money and stay at the Ritz or Peninsula,, actually anywhere else than the Viceroy. Horrible. service top notch.
