It is one of the nicest hotels I’ve experienced in Oaxaca with beautiful views, friendly staff, and lots of amenities. The food is great, I would go here even if I wasn’t staying. My only demerit would be to lack of walkability. Taxi or bus is needed it seems.
We arrived wet from the rain, in an argument about the parking of our motorcycles. We were not allowed to put 2 bikes in 1 parking lot. We decided to ignore them since the bike parking area is ridiculously taped of piece of the access road.. Not a hospitable feel. Positive: Nice beds, big rooms negative: too much to mention Cockroaches in the room in all sizes and sorts, you hardly see them because of the carpet but they are there, I killed 4 and had a giant one removed by the unwilling staff. One roach got into my luggage 🥴 Old, run down, dirty, Looks nicethat table setting near the big Windows right? Unusable, the table is too low for the seats Crooked bedside lights with loose tops. Housekeeping during your stay only makes the bed and does the bathroom, the dead bug on my floor was there the entire week. no city view because of the trees, no balcony as promised, Old taps in the bathroom make it sheer impossible to get a good water temperature, hot water is not constant Staff is unpleasant with an exception here and there, most have an attitude The Internet is heavily censored, many not porn websites are marked as porn and inaccessible. Icloud connection does not work, cloud services are blocked or extremely slow. Old aircon with limited functions, works okay but looks horrible in such an expensive room. Noisy because of the highway, overflying airplanes and the strange fortress like structure that makes everything echo in the passage ways High up a hill only accessible by a steep road, far away from all the fun. Taxi drivers ask a higher fee to get you to the hotel. Never had that before in Oaxaca. For the price paid for my room i expect more, there are much better hotels available in Oaxaca, this was a complete miss
From the first night of our stay, the air conditioning unit in our room began leaking an excessive amount of water. We discovered the issue the following morning and reported it immediately to the front desk staff. They sent an “engineer” who, after we pointed out that the unit was missing a filter (likely causing it to freeze and then leak), simply wiped the water away including from the coffee tray without fixing the root issue. Our main concern was that the water was dripping directly onto an electrical outlet, which we felt was a serious safety hazard. We took videos each time it leaked as evidence, in case any damage occurred. When the problem repeated the second night, we again informed the front desk, who sent two more engineers. Unfortunately, they repeated the same actions: wiping up the water and draining the unit but not resolving the actual issue. That night, around 2:00 a.m., we were woken up once again by the leaking, unable to sleep and genuinely concerned about potential electrical danger while we were asleep. We spoke with the front desk again, explained that we had not had a single restful night since check-in, and the staff member promised us a room change the next day by 3:00 p.m. He asked us to leave our belongings so they could move them for us, but we didn’t feel comfortable with anyone handling our personal items while we were out all day. Instead, we left the “Do Not Disturb” sign so we could be present during the move. We returned around 8:00 p.m. and I reminded the staff about the room change and also asked if we could check out later than the standard 12:00 p.m. as a gesture of goodwill, given how disrupted our stay had been. I was told to check back the next morning to see if that would be possible depending on availability.Later that evening, my brother visited and saw the condition of the room for himself. He was shocked and upset, as he had assumed the issue had been handled properly from the beginning. I explained that I had already spoken to reception multiple times and each time the only response was sending maintenance who didn’t resolve the issue. I mentioned I would be leaving a review and reporting the situation to Expedia. My brother insisted on speaking with the front desk himself. Fortunately, the gentleman working the night of August 5 seemed unaware of the ongoing issue due to a lack of communication between staff, but he acted immediately and changed our room within a few minutes, which I greatly appreciated. He was the only staff member who responded appropriately to a problem that should have been resolved on the first night. Overall, our experience was frustrating, stressful, and disappointing. We lost sleep for multiple nights, were exposed to a potential electrical hazard, and had to repeatedly chase after staff for help that never came until the very last night.
