We had an absolutely stunning experience here! All personel was exceptionally friendly and helpful, the service was great, the food beautiful. The whole building, including pool, wellness and gym, were pristine and clean. Airconditioning for the “superior rooms” (little warm for my taste) would make it perfect! We will surely come back here. Auf Wiedersehen!
Positives: - Hotel and room were clean - The bed sleeps good - Staff at the breakfast was really nice and helpful. Had a laugh with the chef. Lobby staff during daytime is also helpful. - View on the surroundings could be wonderful, but it depends on where you can sit - There’s a daily bulletin on weather and things to do, which is a nice gimmick - getting a ‘travel pack’ for the road when leaving Negatives: A couple of things we disliked, of which the (late) evening staff at the hotel lobby and lobby bar is most concerning. - (late) Evening staff: one night, when going to bed, we were ‘offered’ water for the room and although we said we still had the water that’s in the room when arriving, the bartender insisted on taking some with us. Afterwards, we saw it was billed for ‘only’ €9,00. Bummer, but okay, might be a language issue? Other night, I politely asked, another, bartender if there was a misunderstanding as I ordered a different beer than I got. Also said it was not an issue. He disagreed, then the lobby guy came and started to make a fuss when I, again calmly, suggested the English menu should be changed to avoid such misunderstanding. He started walking away and screaming ‘We have to change a lot around here’. Really weird and scaring - Facilities: maybe we were here just at the wrong time, but be careful when you travel and check what is open. During our stay only the lobby bar and restaurant Bacchus were open. The pool bar was closed, just as the other bar and restaurants. When sitting outside the pool area (only terrace where we could sit in the sun), the lobby bar is a bit of a walk. Furthermore, during our stay there was no food available between 6PM and 9PM other than going to restaurant Bacchus. Bacchus has really good food, but it is on the expensive side. So, if you want a light meal or just a snack, you don’t have any options during that window. Unfortunately for us, restaurants in town were also closed - Room: it was advertised on Booking with having a view. Our ‘view’ was on the parking lot. Would be better to make a distinction in advertising, e.g., different rooms, or don’t advertise with this usp. Bed was nice. Rest a bit outdated and weary. E.g., holes in the curtains, toilet sometimes issues with flushing. - View: the terrace at Bacchus has a really nice view. It was closed, but we were allowed to have one drink outside before dinner. There’s also a terrace outside the swimming pool, but you cannot see the surroundings. Caeser’s bar was closed. All in, there’s much more potential given the location and its surroundings Overall: we thought the hotel is a bit outdated. Could use some renovation works. But well, that’s a personal stance. Still, just not a 5-star experience in our point of view given the other issues. But again, it could have been a case of wrong place and wrong time.
Rooms are extremely dated and in desperate need of renovation. The pool and spa facilities are fine. The old balding waiter however, was horrendous and ruined the experience for us. We tried our best to speak either German or French and instead were felt to feel completely uncomfortable and ruined the entire stay. He said he didn’t speak any English but then spoke fluent English to the French couple next to us who also had a bizarre experience. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, if you do I recommend walking down into town and finding food where the waiters might treat you a little bit better.
